Early Medieval rotundas are simple, often only fragmentary preserved buildings with minimum of architectonic details enabling their art historic interpretation. For the proposal of presumed appearance of recently discovered rotunda at Malá Strana an attempt was made to delve into mental processes of the architects of that time and to identify their original aims. Method of the reverse project was applied to the reconstruction of the architects'conception concerning the planning and construction for 28 rotundas as seen in their groundplans. Baroque wooden statues on the Prague Old Town Astronomical Clock had their own original thematic content completely different from today. The alteration to the meaning of four statues by their modification and addition of stage properties into their hands was done by Vojtěch Sucharda successively in years 1911 and 1966 when he was accredited by their restoration. Meaningful thematic aim of the whole assemblage of statues, which used to be its important part corresponding with the complete original spiritual content of the clock, thus got lost.

Staletá Praha 31, 1/2015, 128-140 | DOI: 10.56112/sp.2015.1.03

The article documents the Baroque window paneling of the sacristies of St. Gaul at the Old Town and of Our Lady of the Angels at Hradčany. In the context of the building history of both churches the authors attempt to date the components, evaluate and describe their current state. Since the assemblage in the church at Hradčany is considered historically valuable, also other paneling components of windows and doors are included, which in some cases come from the period of the church construction.
