Martin Musílek
Staletá Praha 29, 1/2013, 2-15 | DOI: 10.56112/sp.2013.1.01
This study refers to the 13th/ 14th century archival evidence of three men named Nicolas of the Tower. The use of heraldic signs indicates members of three burgher families - Prague Velflovic line (crossbar), Tišnov family named after the Tower (Věžky) by Tišnov (a crenelated tower) and the reeve of Brno district named after the Tower, who used a rafter on a split shield as his seal. By no means the last one cannot be identified with the Prague Nicolas of the Tower as appeared in recent published references following the study of Milena Flodrová.

Staletá Praha 29, 1/2013, 16-34 | DOI: 10.56112/sp.2013.1.02
A building history survey produced new data concerning the structural development of the Gothic presbytery and the adjacent two-floor chapel of the church of Our Lady Beneath the Chain, a part of the Knights of St. John commandry area. The studied context is a key feature and currently the only one known for identification of the first Gothic changes of the Romanesque basilica and for understanding the development phases of the Gothic temple. Primarily the early and late Gothic building phases were classified in detail by intermediate discoveries.

Jiří Mazal
Staletá Praha 29, 1/2013, 35-58 | DOI: 10.56112/sp.2013.1.03
This study summarises and expands the current knowledge of the numerous bells in two churches within the Prague Old Town parish of Mother of God before Týn, i. e. the parish Týn temple and the church of St. Gaul, originally a parish church for six centuries, incorporated into the Týn parish in 1933. Often in the history bells end in natural disaster or as a military commodity, when they were removed to German munitions factories regardless their historic value. The study also includes new data on unpublished bells of the 21st century.

Jan E. Svoboda
Staletá Praha 29, 1/2013, 59-82 | DOI: 10.56112/sp.2013.1.04
The three part of the study presents the last group of architects and master builders active in Prague from the end of the 19th century to the foundation of the Czechoslovak republic. After characteristic outer features the author attempted to assign some of the quality work to known or neglected architects or to state a presumption about the authorship as a matter of discussion. This study does not include well known architects, whose work is already published in detail. Included are other known names of reputable project architects as well as absolvents of The State industrial college and Vienna architects, whose names are unfamiliar within Prague....

Veronika Bartošová, Dorota Havlíková
Staletá Praha 29, 1/2013, 83-90 | DOI: 10.56112/sp.2013.1.05
The research on the historic buildings and the possible threat to art historical features prompted the authors to produce documentation of the Baroque window panes in the original 18th century dormers , namely six panes with remnants of Baroque window constructions and with various degrees of recent alterations. Only a single window pane is preserved in the original Baroque state with later panes in the bottom wings. Most probably this window is from the reconstruction of the palace undertaken by Bartholomew Scotti, dendrochronologically dated to shortly after 1725. This is the first Baroque feature of its kind documented in detail within the Prague...

Hedvika Křížová
Staletá Praha 29, 1/2013, 91-108 | DOI: 10.56112/sp.2013.1.06
Hotel Prague was founded on a lucrative site as a prominent building during 1975-1982. Its generously accommodated interiors were embellished by a great number of art and craft works, such as chandeliers, lamps, glass frieze, furniture etc. by respected interior design artists. This munificently designed complex awaits now, after 31 years, a demolition. The building was documented in detail and relevant archive documentation has been gathered.

Staletá Praha 29, 1/2013, 114-125 | DOI: 10.56112/sp.2013.1.08
In 2011 one of the Prague earliest protected archaeologcial site with the Early Romanesque basilica of St. Lawrence at Vyšehrad was renovated, presenting in situ the results of a seasonal series of archaeological excavations. This site to the north from the main and the south aisle of the basilica with origins presumably connected with Vratislaus II (king 1085) had been given heritage status since 1934. The project included the installation of a replica of early medieval Vyšehrad type tiles found on this eponymous site. The positioning and pattern of this replica, installed in front of the triumph arch of the south aisle on an area of 2 m2 was based...
