The study recapitulates the most important works of two representatives of Czech Baroque sculpture, Andreas Philipp Quitainer (1679-1729) and his son Johann Anton Quitainer (1709-1765). It expounds on the shared elements of their sculpting style and the differences between their works. Among the first it includes a keen plastic sense which characterised the work of the elder Quitainer and was also his son's stylistic point of departure. As an independent creative contribution from the younger master it mentions, in particular, the decorative rendering of surfaces and some composition innovations (a rising gyrating movement), which is probably related...

Initially the origins of the register and evidence of portable cultural artefacts is presented, recorded by the regional office of the National Heritage Institute in Prague. This continuously updated register was commenced in 1964-1974 by a team of external specialists, led by Emanuel Poche. Currently there are more than 25,000 listed portable cultural artefacts in Prague, which is the highest number in the Czech Republic. In 2005-2011 a research project to review the identification of these artefacts resulted in the first revision of this collection since the primary register. This article analyses the archive and literature reviewing the ideology of the primary discussion concerning the preservation of the medieval clock engine of the Prague Old Town astronomical clock. This discussion was held within the commission established for the renovation of the astronomical clock in 1864.

Research concerning the area of the Břevnov monastery, a national cultural monument, has so far been aimed mainly at its earliest history and the structural development of the convent and the church prior to Baroque modification. The archaeological excavation and operative documentation of the building constructions focuses on the description of the later features from the 18th century, which includes the monastery garden; terrace wall; staircase; orangery; fountain; technological features of the heating system and the sophisticated water management. This study was pursued within the research project of The National Heritage Institute concerning endangered art historic components and research of architectonic assets on historic buildings. The documentation of a Baroque window should be a model of drawing documentation during the renovation of cultural monuments and buildings in heritage zones.

The article describes Prague sculptural monuments composed of figure or group of figures mounted on a column and erected between 1631-1910 dedicated to the Virgin Mary, The Holy Trinity, Christ or St. Wenceslaus, St. Adalbert (St. Apollinaris?) or St. Norbert. There are ten such listed cultural monuments within Prague. The most significant are the columns of The Holy Trinity in Malostranské square and of Undefiled Virgin Mary in Hradčanské square, erected in 1713-1736 to commemorate the ending of the plague from which they gain the name of 'Plague columns'. They are all made of various Bohemian sandstones, but the Holy Trinity column is further embellished...
