A brief compilation of knowledge concerning the fortification of the centre of Malá Strana, with characteristics and the dating of individual fortification systems which evolved from the 9th to the 13th century. Analysis of a large, functionally structured settlement stratigraphy, excavated in the SW corner of Malostranské square lead to characteristics of rare timber roads fragments from the end of the 9th to the end of the 11th century.
