The presented text collects the results of archaeological excavations and publishes an updated plan of all archaeological actions (area excavations, trenches and test pits) carried out both in the monastery and in its immediate surroundings since 1940. In particular the documentation is made available, which regards the contexts prior the construction of the monastery or associated with the time of its foundation. For comparison, attention is also paid to the archaeological evidence of the settlement dawning in the north-eastern part of the Old Town. The dating is based on the evidence of early medieval ceramics from the horizon of vessels with an archaically thick rim with slight addition of earlier pottery - vessels with chalice-like rim. Further, there is a discussion of some structural finds that can be connected to the earliest phase of the monastery's construction. ER
