Using written sources and on the basis of preliminary archaeological and sectional architectural-historical research, the authors attempt to reconstruct the history of the building and its immediate surroundings, especially for the period of the Middle Ages. The work emphasizes the importance of the geomorphological conditions in the settlement process. Using this house as an example, one can demonstrate the existence of significant irregularities in the terrain which the builders had to deal with in Prague's Old Town. The Romanesque core of today's house block significantly determined the construction of the surrounding Gothic houses. A more accurate dating of the finding is problematic. One of the few available clues is the building execution shown by the signs of the high quality of Prague's Romanesque architecture. The discovery of an ashlar house at the southwestern edge of the area containing profane Romanesque stone architecture became the impetus for the consideration of the High Middle Ages parcelling of this area during the transition of this unfortified right bank pre-locational agglomeration of Prague into a high medieval city.
