The evidence of flooding impact on the Prague historic centre is captured in numerous stratigraphy revealed by archaeological methods, mostly as layers raising the surface level as protection against the destructive high water. Flooding was one of the most significant reasons for the transformation of the Prague medieval ground relief. The attempt to identify such episodes with the archaeological context led to the need for the determination of the level of the floods known from the written evidence, and a revision of the data used so far.
