AB  - The article describes Prague sculptural monuments composed of figure or group of figures mounted on a column and erected between 1631-1910 dedicated to the Virgin Mary, The Holy Trinity, Christ or St. Wenceslaus, St. Adalbert (St. Apollinaris?) or St. Norbert. There are ten such listed cultural monuments within Prague. The most significant are the columns of The Holy Trinity in Malostranské square and of Undefiled Virgin Mary in Hradčanské square, erected in 1713-1736 to commemorate the ending of the plague from which they gain the name of 'Plague columns'. They are all made of various Bohemian sandstones, but the Holy Trinity column is further embellished with various decorative marbles. This article is the first work summarising this outstanding Prague sculptural art form, focusing mainly on the material characteristics and repairs undertaken on them.
