The aim is to attempt to assign those works of better quality to known or neglected architects on the base of their external features. Every period had fewer good architects than builders; however many of them had their distinctive characteristic elements, which enable the classification of some of their work or to presume their origins. This cannot be considered as evidence for authorship, but more as a contribution to the discussion of this theme. This study covers a number of known names of the period, not mentioning architects, whose work has been already sufficiently surveyed and published. Thus names of reputable designers occur together with quality graduates of the State industrial college and Vienna architects, whose names have not yet been documented in Bohemia. Terminology of architects and constructors is based on the most detailed biographic thematically aimed catalogue (VLCEK 2004). This study is based on more than twenty years of detailed research of the historic prints concerning architecture - projects and realisation. This reflection indicates that some quality buildings with the plans signed by licensed constructors only could have been used by reputable architects. ER
