AB Based on a study of written evidence and earlier literature, including period newspapers, the article deals in detail with the circumstances of erecting the Holy Trinity Column in Malostranské Square in Prague in 1713-1715 and especially its relatively numerous renovations and restoration works from the second half of the 18th to the mid-20th century. This hitherto neglected and not very well-known history gives an instructive evidence of the period perception of these sculptural monuments and the practical care given to them. The text puts emphasis on publishing archival documents. Attention is paid mainly to the material additions to the column in 1772 and major renovations in 1869, 1897, 1910, 1923-1924 and 1945-1946.
